UFM students learn practically at Ho Chi Minh City Taxation: Connecting the lecture hall with tax policy practice

 

On July 24, 2026, the University of Finance and Marketing (UFM) organized a practical learning program for students at the Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department. The activity creates conditions for students to access the professional environment, learn about the tax management process, and apply professional knowledge to situations arising in reality.

Attending the program, the UFM delegation led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Trung Dao - Vice Rector of the University, together with leaders of the Admissions, Communications and Corporate Relations Department; leaders of the Faculty of Law, lecturers, and students. In addition to Economic Law students, the delegation also had more than 30 students in Marketing, Finance - Banking, and Economic Management who are studying the Tax Policy module.

Speaking at the program, the representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department leadership highly appreciated UFM's training orientation associated with practice. The unit's representative said that studying directly and exchanging at a professional agency will help students better understand the position, function, and responsibility of the tax agency in the state management system, while forming a correct awareness of the obligation to comply with tax laws.

On behalf of the University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Trung Dao - Vice Rector of UFM sincerely thanked the Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department for its reception and practical professional sharing. The Vice Rector emphasized that learning activities at agencies and enterprises are important solutions to shorten the gap between lecture hall knowledge and professional practice requirements; and at the same time expressed the desire for the cooperative relationship between the two units to be further strengthened in training, professional exchange, and human resource development.

Within the framework of the program, leaders and professional staff of the Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department introduced many contents related to tax management activities for businesses. Students learned about the tax registration process, electronic tax declaration and payment, tax refund, tax finalization, and risk management for taxpayers. These are practical contents, helping learners better visualize how legal regulations and tax policies are implemented in reality.

Besides, students were introduced to contents on tax inspection and examination, including cases where businesses are subject to examination, implementation processes, common errors, and forms of handling administrative violations according to regulations. Issues related to accounting records, vouchers, electronic invoices, deductible and non-deductible expenses when determining the tax obligations of businesses were also analyzed through specific situations.

The direct discussion part took place animatedly with many questions revolving around the application of tax policies and laws in business operations. The professional staff provided specific answers, helping students better understand the requirements for accuracy, transparency, and responsibility in fulfilling tax obligations.

The practical learning program at Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department continues to affirm UFM's training orientation linking theory with practice. Through the activity, students not only supplement their professional knowledge but also train analytical thinking, exchange skills, and professional demeanor; thereby proactively preparing their baggage to adapt to the requirements of the labor market.
